Bike Transport Gurgaon to Chennai: Charges, Route and Delivery

Moving from Gurgaon (Gurugram) to Chennai is a long north-to-south move, roughly 2,150 to 2,350 km by road depending on your exact addresses and the corridor the carrier uses. Getting one bike or scooter across that distance safely depends less on the truck than on the two ends of the job: releasing the vehicle from a society basement, office parking or PG in Gurgaon, and having the right person ready at the right Chennai address when it arrives.

BikeShift Gurgaon arranges assessed collection, packing, road transport and delivery for single two-wheelers on this route. This page explains planning price bands for seven vehicle types, a realistic timing window, how to choose your Chennai delivery address, which documents the move needs, and when railway parcel is worth comparing. Share your exact model, pickup point and delivery address and we will send a written quote that lists what is included.

Gurgaon to Chennai at a Glance

Gurgaon to Chennai Bike Transport Charges

The bands below are the planning ranges we use when assessing this route. They help you budget and compare quotes; they are not fixed all-inclusive tariffs. Your accepted quote is based on the exact model and variant, its condition and accessories, and the real conditions at both addresses.

Planning price bands for one two-wheeler, Gurgaon to Chennai
Vehicle type Example models (illustrative) Planning range What usually moves the price
Scooter or light two-wheeler Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access 125, Yamaha Fascino ₹5,500 – ₹7,200 Larger-bodied scooters such as the Suzuki Burgman Street, a fitted top box, or a full under-seat and floorboard area that has to be emptied and recorded.
Commuter motorcycle, roughly 100–160cc Hero Splendor Plus, Honda Shine, Bajaj Pulsar 125/150, Honda Unicorn, Yamaha FZ ₹6,200 – ₹7,800 Crash guards, carriers and saree guards add width; a bike that does not start needs more handling at both ends.
Performance motorcycle, roughly 150–250cc Yamaha R15 and MT-15, TVS Apache RTR 160/200, Bajaj Pulsar NS200, KTM Duke 200/250 ₹6,800 – ₹8,500 Fairings, clip-on handlebars, aftermarket exhausts and long levers that need rigid guarding.
Royal Enfield and mid-size cruisers, roughly 350–650cc Royal Enfield Classic 350, Bullet 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, Interceptor 650, Super Meteor 650; Harley-Davidson X440 ₹7,800 – ₹10,500 Weight, chrome, crash guards, panniers and touring seats. Retro bikes just under 350cc, such as the Jawa 42, are assessed by size and weight and may fall here or in the band above.
Premium sports or tourer KTM Duke 390 and 390 Adventure, Bajaj Dominar 400, BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 ₹8,800 – ₹12,000 Tall screens, handguards, crash bars and luggage systems, plus the value you declare if you ask for cover.
Electric scooter, subject to exact-model acceptance Ather 450 series and Rizta, Ola S1 range, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak ₹6,800 – ₹8,500 Whether the carrier accepts that model and battery, battery condition, and protection for the display and charging port. The charger travels only as agreed and recorded.
Large motorcycle, superbike or luxury tourer Triumph Tiger and Speed Twin range, BMW R 1250 GS or R 1300 GS, Ducati Monster or Multistrada, Kawasaki Z900, larger Harley-Davidson cruisers ₹12,500 – ₹18,500 Weight and size, proper tie-down points, whether a crate or dedicated space is needed, declared value and cover.

Why the exact model matters more than engine capacity

The categories overlap at the edges, and the cc figure on its own does not decide where a bike sits. A heavy 350cc cruiser takes more space and handling than a light 250cc naked bike. A scooter with a large body and top box is not the same job as a basic 110cc model. What actually shapes the quote is the bike's length, width and weight, fitted accessories, running condition, how it has to be brought out at pickup, and what delivery at your Chennai address involves. Share the exact make, model, variant and year, plus photos of any additions, so the quote is accepted on the right basis the first time.

What your quote should spell out

Ask for a written quote that lists each part of the job, so you can compare it fairly with others:

An illustrative budget

This is a worked example to show how a quote breaks down. It is not an invoice, a past booking or a fixed price. Suppose a Honda Shine is collected from a Gurgaon society basement and delivered to an apartment in Perungudi with a clear gate and an available receiver.

Illustrative example: commuter motorcycle, Gurgaon society to Perungudi apartment
Line Example amount Note
Collection from society basement in Gurgaon ₹600 Included in the base quote
Packing materials and labour ₹900 Included in the base quote
Shared long-distance road movement to Chennai ₹4,300 Included in the base quote
Chennai local transfer and doorstep delivery ₹700 Included in the base quote
Consignment paperwork and handling ₹200 Included in the base quote
Base quote total ₹6,700 Within the commuter band of ₹6,200 – ₹7,800
Optional transit cover Quoted separately Depends on the issued policy and declared value
Applicable tax As shown on the quote Shown as its own line, not assumed
Second delivery attempt, holding or long carry Only if needed Agreed in writing before dispatch

Route, Distance and Realistic Timing

A Google Maps driving check shows several workable options between the two cities, at roughly 2,159 km, 2,214 km and 2,311 km. Some run largely via NH44 and one includes a stretch labelled NE4, which is an expressway section on part of that option rather than a continuous road to Chennai. There is no single compulsory highway. The booked carrier uses a permitted corridor that suits its loads and conditions, and that can change from one dispatch to the next, so ask which corridor and transfer points apply when you confirm. The 40 to 51 hours that a map shows for a car is a passenger driving time. It is not a freight delivery window, because goods vehicles stop for driver rest, loading and unloading, and consolidation.

The stages that make up your delivery date

Stages of a Gurgaon to Chennai bike move
Stage What happens What it depends on
1. Assessment and booking You share the model, photos and both addresses; we send a written quote How complete your details are, EV or non-running checks
2. Gurgaon pickup and packing Condition record, packing and handover at your address Society or office access, keys, an authorised sender being present
3. Consolidation and dispatch The bike joins a load heading south; dispatch is confirmed to you Carrier schedule and space on a suitable vehicle
4. Long-distance movement Road movement on the carrier's permitted corridor Corridor, weather, traffic and en-route stops
5. Chennai arrival and local transfer The bike is unloaded and moved to a smaller local vehicle City goods-vehicle rules and the delivery area
6. Final delivery appointment Unpacking, inspection and handover to you or your receiver Receiver availability, gate permission, exact address

For shared road movement, plan on about 5 to 8 working days from confirmed dispatch (stage 3) to the delivery appointment (stage 6). Large machines that need specific space tend to sit towards the upper end. This is a planning estimate drawn from route research, not a recorded trip result or a guaranteed schedule. If you need the bike sooner, ask for a dedicated or faster direct arrangement; it requires a separately confirmed vehicle and quote and is not always available.

If you are flying ahead and starting work first

Many people on this route hand over the bike in Gurgaon, take a flight, and join an office in Chennai within a day or two. In that case the bike will almost always arrive after you do, so plan the gap rather than hoping it closes. Count working days, not calendar days, and leave out Sundays and public holidays unless the carrier confirms otherwise. For example, if dispatch is confirmed on a Wednesday, working day 5 falls on the following Tuesday in a six-day working week or the following Wednesday in a five-day week.

Date-planning worksheet for owners who travel separately
Step When to plan it Decision to make
Send model details and both addresses A few days before you want pickup Final flat or temporary stay as the delivery address
Pickup in Gurgaon Before you leave the city You, a family member or a colleague as authorised sender
Confirmed dispatch Treat this as Day 0 Ask for written confirmation of the dispatch date
Earliest planning arrival Around working day 5 after Day 0 Who will be free to receive from this day onwards
Later planning arrival Around working day 8 after Day 0 Whether a weekend or evening slot suits your receiver
Backup commute From your joining date until the day after delivery Which option below covers your first week or two

Chennai offers several stop-gaps while you wait: Chennai Metro and MTC buses, suburban trains on some corridors, app-based cabs and autos, office shuttles where your employer runs them, and short-term two-wheeler rental. Arrange one before you fly so a late arrival does not disrupt your first days at work.

Gurgaon Pickup: Getting the Bike Out of a Society, Office or PG

Society basements and gates

Most Gurgaon pickups happen in gated societies where the bike is parked in a basement. Tell us whether the bike can be wheeled up the ramp to a ground-level point, which basement level it is on, and whether your society asks for a visitor or vendor pass through its gate app. Generate the pass for the confirmed slot and inform security, because a pickup vehicle waiting at the boom barrier costs time on both sides. If the society does not allow commercial vehicles inside, the bike can be packed at an agreed spot near the gate.

Office or company parking

If the bike is parked in an office campus in Cyber City, Udyog Vihar, along Golf Course Road or in Manesar, security usually needs a release from the owner or facilities team before a vehicle can leave. Ask for that release in writing in advance and tell us the gate and the name of the person approving it.

When someone else hands it over

If you have already moved, a family member, friend or colleague can hand the bike over. They need a signed authorisation from you, their own ID, a copy of your ID, copies of the RC and current insurance, and the keys. Agree beforehand who checks and signs the pickup condition record, and ask them to send you its photos straight away.

Exact model, keys and condition

Confirm the exact model and variant, mention any accessories, and say whether the bike starts and rolls freely. Hand over one key set and keep the spare with you. If the bike has a steering lock, alarm or immobiliser, explain how it works so it can be moved without forcing anything.

Chennai Delivery: Choosing the Right Address Before Dispatch

Writing "Chennai IT office" or a locality name on the booking is not enough. Chennai spreads a long way in different directions, and delivery corridors behave differently. Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) and GST Road, for example, run in quite different directions to the south of the city, so an address on one is not the same job as an address on the other. Large goods vehicles also face restrictions on where and when they can enter the city, which is why the long-distance truck usually hands over to a smaller local vehicle for the last stretch. Confirm the full address, landmark, gate and receiver before dispatch, not after the bike arrives.

Chennai destination types and what to decide for each
Destination type Address and gate decision Receiver decision Price or timing consequence
Central Chennai apartment, house or PG (for example T. Nagar, Nungambakkam, Anna Nagar, Adyar, Mylapore) Check whether a local goods vehicle can stop outside; narrow streets may mean handover at the main road Confirm in advance whether the PG manager will accept a bike on your behalf; many will not Usually within the standard quote; parking limits can narrow the delivery slot
OMR office corridor (for example Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Sholinganallur, Navalur, Siruseri) Give the tower or block, gate number and whether delivery is to your home or office parking Company campuses rarely accept personal vehicles at reception; plan for yourself or another named person Further addresses along the corridor may need a longer local leg and a fixed appointment
GST Road and southern areas (for example Guindy towards Pallavaram, Chromepet, Tambaram, Vandalur) Specify which side of the main road and the nearest landmark; service lanes matter here Plan for a receiver who can meet the vehicle at the gate during the slot Assessed by exact address; outer southern points may add local transfer time
West side (for example Porur, Valasaravakkam, Ambattur, Mogappair, Avadi) Mention whether the address is in a gated society, an industrial estate or an independent house For industrial estates, confirm gate rules and whether security will hold the bike Usually quoted with the city delivery; gate rules can fix the slot
Outlying industrial belts (for example Sriperumbudur, Oragadam) Each address is assessed individually; give the full address, plot or company gate, and access road A named receiver is essential; factory gates may not sign for personal vehicles Price and appointment are confirmed after assessment and may differ from city delivery

Temporary stay or final flat?

If you start in a company guest house, serviced apartment or PG and move to your own flat later, choose the delivery address before dispatch. Delivering to the temporary address gives you the bike sooner, but only if someone there can receive it and there is safe parking. Delivering to the final flat avoids moving the bike twice, but you will need a backup commute until you move in. If the final address is not ready when the bike reaches Chennai, ask before dispatch whether holding or a later redelivery can be arranged and what it would cost. Asking at that stage avoids a surprise charge or a failed delivery.

Receiver readiness on delivery day

Road Transport or Railway Parcel: A Fair Comparison

We arrange door-to-door road movement. Railway parcel or accompanied luggage booking can suit some owners, particularly when someone is travelling by train anyway, so compare both on the total job rather than on the base freight alone.

Door-to-door road transport compared with railway movement
Factor Door-to-door road Railway parcel or luggage
Booking One quote covering collection, packing, movement and delivery Parcel booking and luggage travelling with a passenger ticket have different conditions; confirm them for your journey
Local legs Included as quoted You or an agent take the bike to the booking station and collect it at the other end; confirm which stations accept it
Fuel Follows the accepted carrier procedure for your model Railway guidance requires an empty petrol tank
Packing Provided as quoted, chosen for your model You arrange packing that meets railway requirements, yourself or through a packing service
Timing Pickup, dispatch, about 5–8 working days, then the local appointment Depends on train, space and loading; add time for both station visits
Electric scooters After exact-model acceptance Check current railway acceptance for your model and battery before planning
Handling and risk Loading, transfer and unloading still involve handling Loading and unloading at stations also involve handling
Total cost Compare the full written quote Add freight, packing, trips to and from both stations and your time

Neither mode is automatically safer. Packing suited to the model, careful handling, a clear condition record and understood cover matter in both.

Model-Aware Packing for a Long Journey

Good packing protects the surfaces and parts that actually get hurt on a long move, without trapping moisture or heat. Painted panels and the tank get a soft, non-abrasive layer first, then cushioning at contact points, then rigid guards for anything that sticks out. The exhaust is wrapped only after it has cooled, and nothing is wrapped tight around a hot engine. Straps go on strong frame points, never on plastic panels or the handlebar grips.

Packing priorities by bike type
Bike type Parts most at risk Packing and handling note
Scooter Front apron, side panels, mirrors, under-seat storage Empty and record the storage area; cushion the body panels and the front edge
Commuter motorcycle Mirrors, indicators, levers, tank Guards on levers and indicators; mirrors cushioned in place or removed and recorded
Faired or performance bike Fairing, windscreen, clip-ons, levers, aftermarket exhaust Extra padding on fairing edges and the screen; straps routed away from plastics
Royal Enfield or cruiser Chrome, tank, silencer, crash guards, mirrors Soft layer on chrome; weight means more hands and firm frame tie-downs
Adventure or tourer Tall screen, handguards, panniers, auxiliary lights Remove luggage or record it; protect the screen and protruding accessories
Electric scooter Display, charging port, body panels, battery area Keep water out of the port; record the charger separately; follow the model's handling guidance
Large motorcycle or superbike Bodywork, electronics, tie-down points, exhausts Assessed individually; may need a crate or dedicated space, quoted before booking

Weather-aware wrapping and arrival checks

The journey can pass through heat in some stretches and rain in others, and Chennai's northeast monsoon period usually runs from about October to December. A bike should be dry before it is wrapped, because sealing moisture inside plastic does more harm than good. The outer film holds the padding in place and keeps off road dirt and splashes; it is not an airtight bag, and no wrapping can promise to keep out all water. After delivery, unwrap the bike, let it dry if any layer is damp, check the lights, horn, indicators and display, and look over the paint and chrome before signing.

Keys, accessories and charger record

Ask for a written list on the condition record of everything that goes with the bike: the key handed over, mirrors if removed, a top box or panniers, a helmet lock, a phone holder, and for an EV the charger and its cable. Remove valuables and loose items such as helmets, bags, tools and documents from the storage areas. Anything not on the list is hard to account for later, and cover often treats accessories differently from the vehicle itself.

Fuel, Batteries and Non-Running Bikes

Petrol bikes

Fuel preparation follows the procedure the carrier has accepted for your model, and we confirm it at booking. If you are asked to arrive with a low fuel level, reach it by riding normally in the days before pickup. Do not siphon petrol, and do not pack fuel in bottles with the bike or your luggage. Any draining that is required is done only through authorised handling. For railway movement, the requirement is an empty tank.

Electric scooters

We accept an electric scooter only after checking the exact make, model, variant and battery against what the carrier will take. Tell us at enquiry about any warning lights, error codes, swelling, a past fall or crash, or water exposure. Charge level, switch-off steps and any other preparation follow the manufacturer's and carrier's requirements for that specific model, not a general rule. Do not open the battery casing, and do not remove a battery yourself unless your manufacturer designs it to be removed and the carrier accepts it travelling that way.

Non-running or damaged bikes

A bike that does not start can usually be moved, but it needs to be declared. Mention flat tyres, locked or seized brakes, a lost key, a dead battery or accident damage. Extra people, a ramp or a different loading method may be needed at both ends, which can change the quote. If the bike is going straight to a workshop in Chennai, confirm that the workshop will receive it and sign for it.

Paperwork: Transport Documents and Later Registration

Documents for the move

Keep the original documents you need for riding with you. The transporter needs copies, not originals.

Riding a Haryana-registered bike in Tamil Nadu long term

Moving the bike and changing its registration are two different processes. Depending on how long you stay and your circumstances, using a Haryana-registered vehicle in Tamil Nadu over the long term can involve reassigning the registration, paying Tamil Nadu road tax and getting a no-objection certificate. The relevant registering authority decides what applies and when, so check with the regional transport office rather than relying on a general rule of thumb. If the bike is under a loan, the financier's approval is usually part of any registration change, so speak to them early.

Transit Cover, Condition Records and Claims

Cover is not automatically part of the price. What protects you is the policy actually issued: which stages it covers (collection, long-distance movement, local transfer), the value you declare, and its exclusions, such as pre-existing damage, mechanical or electrical faults, and undeclared accessories. Ask for the cover terms in writing with your quote and read them before pickup.

The condition record is your main evidence. At pickup, photograph every side of the bike, close-ups of existing marks, the odometer and the accessory list, and keep a copy. At delivery, inspect before signing and write any visible damage on the delivery document, with photos. If you find something later, such as a crack under the packing or an electrical issue, report it as soon as you can with photos, the consignment number and the pickup record. Prompt, documented reporting helps the assessment, but no provider can promise a claim will be accepted; that depends on the policy and the evidence.

Payment and Booking Terms

The advance, when the balance is due, accepted payment modes, any applicable tax and the cancellation or rescheduling terms are set out in your accepted quote and our terms and conditions. Read them before confirming the pickup date, and if a point matters to you, such as what happens when delivery has to be rescheduled, ask for it in writing. How we handle the details you share is explained in our privacy policy.

Frequently Asked Questions: Gurgaon to Chennai Bike Transport

How much does bike transport from Gurgaon to Chennai cost?

Planning ranges are ₹5,500–₹7,200 for scooters, ₹6,200–₹7,800 for 100–160cc commuter bikes, ₹6,800–₹8,500 for 150–250cc performance bikes, ₹7,800–₹10,500 for Royal Enfield and similar cruisers, ₹8,800–₹12,000 for premium sports and tourer bikes, ₹6,800–₹8,500 for accepted electric scooters and ₹12,500–₹18,500 for large bikes and luxury tourers. The accepted quote depends on the exact model, size, weight, accessories, running condition, packing, pickup access and Chennai delivery address. Optional cover and any applicable tax are shown separately on the quote.

How many days does Gurgaon to Chennai bike transport take?

For shared road movement, plan on about 5–8 working days after dispatch is confirmed. Pickup and packing in Gurgaon happen before that, and the local transfer and delivery appointment in Chennai come after the main carrier arrives. This is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed date. A faster dedicated vehicle can be quoted separately where one is available.

Do you deliver to Chennai outskirts such as Tambaram, Sriperumbudur or Oragadam?

Addresses outside the central city are assessed one by one. Southern GST Road areas, the OMR corridor, western suburbs and industrial belts like Sriperumbudur and Oragadam can involve a longer local transfer, and the price or appointment slot may change. Share the full address, landmark and gate details at enquiry so the quote reflects the real delivery point.

Is it doorstep delivery or will I have to collect from a terminal?

Doorstep collection and delivery are quoted where the local vehicle can safely reach the address. If a gate, lane or society rule prevents that, we agree an alternative before dispatch, such as handover at the society entrance or collection from the carrier's unloading point. Whichever option is agreed should be written in the quote.

Can you transport my electric scooter from Gurgaon to Chennai?

Electric scooters are accepted only after an exact-model check. We need the make, model, variant, battery type and any warning lights, damage or water exposure history before acceptance. Charge level, switch-off and battery handling follow the manufacturer and carrier requirements for that model. Please do not open the battery casing or remove a fixed battery yourself.

Can a non-running or accident-damaged bike be moved?

Often yes, after assessment. Tell us at enquiry if the bike does not start, has flat tyres, locked or seized brakes, a missing key or accident damage. It may need extra handling, a ramp or more people at both ends, which can change the quote. Delivery to a workshop in Chennai can be arranged if someone there agrees to receive it.

How is the bike packed, and what happens to keys, mirrors and accessories?

Packing is chosen for your model: soft layers on painted panels and the tank, padding at contact points, guards on levers, mirrors and indicators, and extra care for fairings, screens and chrome. Hot exhausts are not wrapped until cool. Keys, mirrors, chargers and any removed parts are listed on the condition record. Keep spare keys and loose valuables with you.

What documents are needed for bike transport?

Usually copies of the registration certificate, current insurance and the owner's ID, plus a PUC certificate where applicable. If someone else hands over or receives the bike, an authorisation letter and their ID copy are needed. Keep the original documents you need for riding with you; do not hand them to the transporter.

Do I need to re-register my Haryana bike after moving to Chennai?

Transport paperwork and long-term registration are separate matters. Whether and when you need a registration change, a no-objection certificate, Tamil Nadu road tax or financier approval depends on your situation and is decided by the relevant registering authority. Check with the RTO before relying on any general rule.

Is railway parcel cheaper or safer than road transport?

It depends on the total job. Railway parcel and luggage bookings have their own conditions, including an empty petrol tank, and you must arrange packing and the trips to and from the stations. Compare the full cost and time, including both local legs, against a door-to-door road quote. Neither mode is automatically safer; packing, handling and a proper condition record matter in both.

Is transit insurance included in the price?

Not automatically. Cover depends on the policy actually issued, the stages it covers, the declared value and its exclusions. Ask for the cover terms in writing with your quote, and declare accessories separately if you want them considered.

What should I do if I find damage at delivery or later?

Inspect the bike before signing the delivery note and write any visible damage on it, with photos. If you notice something later, such as damage under packing or an electrical fault, report it as soon as possible with photos, the consignment details and the pickup condition record. Reporting promptly helps the assessment, but it does not guarantee that a claim will be accepted.

What does the receiver in Chennai need to do?

The receiver should be available on the phone number given, have ID matching the consignment, know the exact gate or parking point, and have the society or office informed in advance. Allow time to unpack and check the bike, keys and accessories before signing. If the owner is not present, share the authorisation letter beforehand.

How does payment work for this route?

The advance, balance timing, payment modes, any applicable tax and the cancellation or rescheduling terms are set out in your accepted quote and our terms and conditions. Read them before confirming the pickup, and ask us to clarify anything that is not written down.
