Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Kanpur

Gurgaon to Kanpur is mostly a going-home route. The bikes we are asked about here usually belong to people moving back to Kanpur after a few years of work in Gurgaon, to parents whose scooty is going back home, to students joining IIT Kanpur, HBTU or CSJM University, and to people transferred to Kanpur's cantonment, banks, factories or PSU offices. The road distance is roughly 485 to 500 km, depending on the route the carrier takes. That is short enough for people to expect next-day delivery. Sometimes it works out that way. Often it doesn't, because the bike waits after pickup for a carrier going towards Kanpur.

This page sets out indicative charges for each type of bike, the parts of Kanpur we deliver to and what each one changes, how road and train compare on this particular route, and what to do about your HR registration if you are staying in Kanpur for good.

Gurgaon to Kanpur bike transport charges by bike type

These are planning bands for one running two-wheeler, collected from a normally accessible Gurgaon address and delivered to an accessible address within Kanpur city. Why Kanpur can cost almost the same as Lucknow

Kanpur comes before Lucknow on the same corridor, roughly 80 km short of it, so people expect a noticeably lower price. On a route of this length, distance is a smaller part of the bill than you'd think. The pickup leg in Gurgaon, the wait for a carrier with space, the local delivery leg in Kanpur and the packing cost much the same for both cities. If you get a Kanpur quote that is far below a Gurgaon to Lucknow quote for the same bike, check whether doorstep delivery, packing and cover are still included, or whether the price assumes you will collect the bike yourself.

Cross-check against published ranges

Rates published online for this route vary a lot because each one covers a different scope. One Gurgaon listing gives a single range of about ₹2,500–₹5,000 for any bike to Kanpur. Delhi to Kanpur rate tables from other providers start around ₹4,200–₹4,700 for a 100–150cc bike and go past ₹13,000 for cruisers and vintage bikes. Use these only to spot a quote that is far out of line. If a figure is much lower, ask what has been left out. If it is much higher, ask what the extra pays for.

What to confirm in writing for this route

The full list of points to compare between two quotes is on our Gurgaon bike transport page.

Route and timing: what happens between pickup and delivery

Carriers leaving Gurgaon for Kanpur generally take one of two lines. One is the old Delhi–Agra highway through Palwal and Mathura. The other is the Yamuna Expressway to Agra. Beyond Agra, NH-19 continues through Firozabad, Etawah and Auraiya into Kanpur, while some carriers use the Agra–Lucknow Expressway for part of the way. The carrier decides the path, the halts and any transfer point. It is not an itinerary you can follow stop by stop, and for you the delivery end matters more than the road taken.

Four dates, not one

On this route people are most often caught out by assuming the bike leaves Gurgaon the evening it is collected. Ask for each of these in your quote:

Stage What happens Typical gap on this route (indicative)
Pickup Bike inspected, photographed, packed and taken from your parking Day 0
Consolidation Bike waits until a carrier heading towards Kanpur has space Same day to about 2 days
Dispatch and road transit Carrier leaves NCR and reaches Kanpur About a day on the road; transit days count from here
Local delivery Bike moved to a smaller vehicle and brought to your address in a booked slot Usually the day of arrival or the next working day

Seasons that slow this corridor

Delivery areas in Kanpur and what each one changes

Kanpur has very different kinds of addresses: a campus with its own security in the north-west, wide colonies in the south, crowded market lanes in the old city, and defence areas in the east. Delivery planning starts with which one yours is. The groups below cover the patterns we see most. If your locality is not listed, send the pin code and a landmark and we will tell you what we need.

Kalyanpur, IIT Kanpur and the north-west

Kalyanpur, Rawatpur, Nankari, Awas Vikas, Panki, Bithoor Road and Mandhana. Many deliveries here are for students and faculty families. The IIT Kanpur campus sits off GT Road, about 16 km west of the city centre. Campus and hostel entry for an outside delivery vehicle follows the institute's security rules, so check with the hostel office or security beforehand whether the bike can come to the hostel or has to be handed over at a gate. The same applies to CSJM University in Kalyanpur and to other campuses. Keep your student ID handy at the gate.

Swaroop Nagar, Civil Lines, Arya Nagar, Kakadeo and Tilak Nagar

Central residential areas with a mix of older bungalows and apartment buildings. Parking is usually at the front or in a stilt, so access is simpler than in Gurgaon high-rises. Roads around the Kakadeo coaching belt get very busy in the evenings, so a morning slot is easier for everyone.

Old city markets: Naveen Market, Parade, Nayaganj, Generalganj and Birhana Road

Lanes here are narrow and crowded for most of the day. A delivery vehicle often cannot reach the door. Plan the handover at the nearest wider road, inspect the bike there, and then ride or push it home. If you won't be there yourself, name the family member or shop staff who will receive it.

Kidwai Nagar, Govind Nagar, Barra, Juhi, Naubasta and Yashoda Nagar

South Kanpur is a large residential belt and the side where most of the city's transport businesses work, around Transport Nagar in Cooperganj. Colonies are generally easier for a delivery vehicle than the old city. Give the block or sector number along with a landmark, because names like Barra 2 and Barra 8 or the different blocks of Kidwai Nagar are easily mixed up on the day.

Chakeri, Shyam Nagar, Jajmau, Cantt and Lal Bangla

East Kanpur includes the Air Force station and airport at Chakeri and the Kanpur Cantonment. Entry into a cantonment or defence station for an outside vehicle needs permission that you or your unit has to arrange. If that is not possible, the bike is handed over at the main gate. Tell us at the quote stage if your address is inside a defence area. Shyam Nagar and Jajmau are ordinary residential deliveries, and Jajmau's tannery belt has heavy goods traffic, so give a clear landmark.

Outside city limits: Kanpur Dehat, Shuklaganj, Bithoor, Bilhaur and Ghatampur

These are separate delivery legs and are quoted on their own line. Shuklaganj is across the Ganga in Unnao district, and Akbarpur and Rania are in Kanpur Dehat. If your address is closer to Unnao or the Lucknow side, compare with the Gurgaon to Lucknow route guide as well, since the same carriers often serve both.

Common reasons people send a bike from Gurgaon to Kanpur

Moving back home

This is the most common booking on this route. Usually the house goods go separately and the bike is the last thing to sort out. If you are leaving Gurgaon after the bike, time the pickup so it reaches Kanpur after a family member can receive it, or name that person on the booking so the bike doesn't sit on hold.

Sending a scooty to parents

Often a parent's Activa or Jupiter that was used in Gurgaon for a few years. Share the pickup condition photos with whoever will receive it in Kanpur before it arrives, so they know what to compare against at delivery.

Students joining IIT Kanpur, HBTU, CSJMU or a medical college

Admissions and semester starts bunch together, so bookings rise at the same time. Book early, find out the campus delivery rule first, and don't plan on having the bike for the first week of classes. Kanpur Metro runs from IIT Kanpur to Kanpur Central, so getting around without the bike is manageable for a few days.

Transfers to defence, PSU, bank and factory postings

Transfer orders often come with little notice. Tell us the reporting date, whether you have government accommodation yet, and whether the address is inside a cantonment or a factory estate. If accommodation is not settled, a delivery to a relative or a short agreed hold may be simpler than rushing the pickup.

Bought or sold a bike between the two cities

Transport and ownership transfer are separate. If the bike is changing hands, sort out the RC transfer paperwork with the buyer or seller. We only need a signed authorisation letter if the person handing over the bike is not the RC owner.

Pickup points in Gurgaon for the Kanpur route

Collection works the same way as for any intercity move from Gurgaon. What changes the price and the slot is where the bike is parked:

The full Gurgaon pickup access worksheet lists every point to send us before the quote.

Road or train from Gurgaon to Kanpur: an honest comparison

Rail is a stronger option on this route than on many others. Kanpur Central is on the Delhi–Howrah main line, and a large number of trains from Delhi stop there. If you are travelling on the same train, or you live close to Kanpur Central and don't mind the station work, rail can cost less. The difference is in who does the work at each end.

Task Road, door to door Train (parcel or luggage)
Gurgaon end Collected from your parking You take the bike to a Delhi station whose parcel office is accepting two-wheelers on that day
Packing Arranged as part of the booking Arranged and paid for by you at the station
Fuel As instructed by the carrier for your model Tank must be empty; ask the station how this is handled
Which train Not applicable A parcel booking may travel on a different train and day from you; a luggage booking goes with your own journey
Kanpur end Delivered to your address or an agreed handover point You collect it from the Kanpur Central parcel office, in a busy station area, and find fuel to get it home
Electric scooters Assessed model by model Check with the booking station; don't assume it will be accepted
Best suited to Owners not travelling with the bike, basement pickups, premium bikes, deliveries far from the station such as Kalyanpur, Naubasta or Chakeri Owners on the same journey, with a commuter bike and an address near Kanpur Central

Neither mode is automatically safer. The result depends on packing, handling and the records kept at each handover. Compare the full door-to-door cost and the half day or so you would spend at the two stations, not just the freight figure.

Preparing the bike for this route

Checks at delivery in Kanpur

If you need to report damage

Send the booking contact a written report with the consignment reference, pickup photos, dated delivery photos and the signed handover record. If a family member receives the bike in Kanpur while you are still in Gurgaon, ask them to send you those records straight away. Keep the packaging until you know whether it is needed for inspection.

Ask who handles the report and what evidence and reporting deadline the booking terms or chosen cover require. Before authorising a non-urgent repair, check the next step with that contact. The written quote should separately identify any transit cover, its premium, declared value and exclusions; the bike's motor policy and transit cover are different documents.

Worked example: a hypothetical Gurgaon to Kanpur budget

This is an illustrative scenario that shows how to build a budget. It is not an invoice, a completed move or a customer review, and the amounts are not quotes.

Scenario: a Honda Shine parked on the first basement level of a Sector 57 society, going to the owner's family home in Kidwai Nagar. The owner takes a train to Kanpur three days after pickup.

Item Example amount What would change it
Carriage in the commuter band, with standard packing, doorstep pickup and delivery ₹3,300 Exact model, delivery locality, dates
Basement roll-out, if the quote treats it as extra ₹200 Ramp, distance to the gate, whether loading inside is allowed
Transit cover on a declared value of ₹55,000 (example figure only) ₹500 The policy, the declared value, the exclusions
GST As shown on the invoice Not assumed here; check how your quote shows it
Holding for two days if the bike arrives before anyone can receive it (example ₹150 a day) ₹300, or ₹0 if a family member receives it Naming a receiver in Kidwai Nagar
Autos or metro for the first three days in Kanpur (example ₹150 a day) ₹450 Distance to work or college, metro access

Here the provider's charges come to ₹4,000 plus GST as invoiced, or ₹4,300 if holding is needed. With the fallback commute, the owner's real budget is about ₹4,450 to ₹4,750 plus GST. Since the family is in Kanpur anyway, naming a parent as receiver is the easiest saving on this route.

Papers: riding an HR-number bike in Kanpur, and moving it to UP-78

You do not usually need an NOC just to transport the bike. Registration is a separate question, and it only comes up if you are staying.

Situation What applies Notes for Kanpur
Riding in Kanpur on your HR number Valid RC, insurance, PUC certificate and your driving licence Check expiry dates before the move, especially PUC
Staying more than twelve months Reassignment of registration in UP, normally with a clearance (NOC) from the Haryana registering authority Kanpur Nagar registrations use UP-78 (RTO at Sarvodaya Nagar); Kanpur Dehat uses UP-77 (RTO at Kripalpur)
Road tax in UP Depends on UP's rules for vehicles registered in another state Check with the UP transport department; don't rely on a blanket twelve-month exemption
Financed bike The lender's clearance may be needed for reassignment Tell us at booking if the RC shows hypothecation
Selling the bike in Kanpur A separate ownership-transfer process Not the same as reassignment; different forms and steps

Share only the document copies the booking needs. How we handle them is set out in our privacy policy. If you use Aadhaar as ID, ask whether a masked copy is accepted.

Booking order for a Gurgaon to Kanpur bike move

  1. Share the move. Send the exact model, running condition, Gurgaon pickup area, Kanpur address with PIN and the preferred date.
  2. Confirm the scope. Check the written amount for packing, collection, transport, delivery, applicable tax and any selected cover.
  3. Prepare the handover. Arrange the society or office release, keys and authorised sender. Read and keep the condition record before the bike is loaded.
  4. Confirm dispatch separately. Pickup is not necessarily the day the carrier leaves. Ask for the departure update before counting the transit days shown on this page.
  5. Get the Kanpur receiver ready. Share the condition photos and agreed handover point, especially for an old-city lane, campus or restricted gate.
  6. Check and record delivery. Inspect the bike, keys and listed items before signing, and write down any concern while the handover is being completed.

Frequently asked questions: bike transport from Gurgaon to Kanpur

How much does it cost to send a bike from Gurgaon to Kanpur?

Our indicative bands are about ₹2,700–₹4,000 for a scooter, ₹2,900–₹3,600 for a commuter motorcycle, ₹3,600–₹5,000 for a 200–400cc sports or faired bike and ₹3,800–₹5,200 for a Royal Enfield or other 350cc-class bike. 650cc and premium bikes are assessed individually and usually fall around ₹6,500–₹9,500. The final figure depends on the exact model, both addresses, access at each end, packing and cover. Ask for a written quote that lists what is included.

How many days does bike transport from Gurgaon to Kanpur take?

Plan on about 2–4 working days after dispatch. The bike may wait a day or two after pickup for a carrier going towards Kanpur, and the local delivery is booked once it arrives. In late December and January, fog on the Agra–Kanpur stretch can add a day or two. Ask for the expected dispatch date as well as the delivery window.

Kanpur is nearer than Lucknow. Why isn't it much cheaper?

On this route most of the cost is in the pickup leg in Gurgaon, packing, waiting for carrier space and the local delivery leg in Kanpur. Those cost about the same for both cities, and the extra 80 km or so to Lucknow is a small part of the bill. If a Kanpur quote is far below a Lucknow quote for the same bike, check whether doorstep delivery and cover are still included.

Can you deliver my bike to the IIT Kanpur campus or a hostel?

That depends on the campus security rules for outside delivery vehicles. Check with your hostel office or security beforehand whether the bike can come to the hostel or has to be handed over at a gate. Tell us the hostel or gate name and keep your student ID with you. The same applies to CSJM University and other campuses.

Do you deliver to Kanpur Dehat, Shuklaganj or Unnao?

Yes, as separate delivery legs quoted on their own line. Shuklaganj is across the Ganga in Unnao district, and Akbarpur and Rania are in Kanpur Dehat. Bithoor, Bilhaur and Ghatampur are also quoted separately. Send the pin code and a landmark when you ask for the quote.

Should I send my bike by train to Kanpur Central instead?

It can be cheaper, especially if you are on the same train or live near Kanpur Central. You will need to take the bike to a Delhi station that is accepting two-wheelers that day, pay for packing, empty the tank, complete the booking and collect it from the Kanpur Central parcel office. Door-to-door road transport costs more but saves that station work at both ends. Compare the full cost and your time.

Can I collect the bike from a hub in Kanpur to save money?

Ask whether a hub handover is available for your date. If it is, the quote should name the exact address and collection hours, and state how long the bike can stay before holding charges start. Much of Kanpur's transport business is around Transport Nagar in Cooperganj, so check the address on a map before you go.

Can my parents receive the bike in Kanpur?

Yes. Name them on the booking with a phone number, share the pickup condition photos with them in advance, and ask them to inspect the bike before signing. If the RC owner is not the person sending the bike from Gurgaon, keep a signed authorisation letter with the RC copy.

Can you send an electric scooter from Gurgaon to Kanpur?

EV acceptance is checked model by model. Share the exact make, model and variant, whether the battery is fixed or removable, and any history of warning lights, swelling or water exposure. Preparation follows the manufacturer's guidance and the carrier's rules for that model. Do not open or remove the battery yourself.

Do I need an NOC or UP-78 registration for my HR-number bike?

Not to transport it. If you stay in UP for more than twelve months, you are expected to apply for reassignment there, which normally needs a clearance from the Haryana registering authority. Kanpur Nagar uses UP-78 and Kanpur Dehat uses UP-77. UP has its own road tax rules for vehicles registered elsewhere, so check with the UP transport department rather than assuming a blanket exemption.

My Kanpur address is in a narrow lane in the old city. What happens?

In areas like Naveen Market, Parade, Nayaganj or Generalganj, the delivery vehicle often cannot reach the door. We agree a handover point on the nearest wider road. Inspect the bike there before signing, then ride or push it home. Tell us this at the quote stage so the slot is planned properly.

Can I send my helmet with the bike?

Only if it is listed on the condition record and accepted for carriage at pickup. Unlisted items are not part of the record and may not be covered. Remove everything else, including phone mounts and top-box contents.

Is transit insurance included in the Gurgaon to Kanpur quote?

Don't assume it is. The written quote should state whether transit cover is included, the declared value, the premium and the main exclusions. Your own motor policy may not cover the bike while it is carried as goods. Cover improves your position if something goes wrong, but whether a claim is accepted depends on the policy conditions and your evidence.
