Bike Transport from Gurgaon to Leh (Ladakh)
Most people who send a bike from Gurgaon to Leh are not relocating. They want to ride their own motorcycle in Ladakh without spending three or four days of leave getting there, or they have been posted in Leh for a season or a tenure. That changes how the booking has to be planned. Your dates are fixed by a flight and by a road season, the bike is usually received at a guest house rather than a flat, and very often it has to come back to Gurgaon a couple of weeks later.
BikeShift Gurgaon arranges collection from your Gurgaon address, packing, road carriage to Leh and handover at the receiving point, with a condition record at both ends. This page explains the charges, the months when a bike can actually reach Leh by road, how to time delivery around your arrival, and what to sort out before the bike leaves Gurgaon.
- Indicative charges: about ₹8,000–₹10,500 for a commuter motorcycle and ₹9,500–₹13,000 for a 350cc-class bike such as a Classic 350 or Himalayan, one way, during the road season. Large and premium bikes are in higher bands.
- Road season: road carriers can reach Leh only while the Manali–Leh or Srinagar–Leh highway is open to goods vehicles. In a normal year that is roughly late May or June to October on the Manali side, and a little longer on the Srinagar side. Winter road-carrier availability is highly restricted; confirm that an open, permitted route and an actual service are available before making plans.
- Distance: roughly 1,000 km via Manali and about 1,250 km via Jammu, Srinagar and Kargil. The carrier decides the route.
- Transit: about 4–7 working days after dispatch in season. Pickup, dispatch and delivery are separate dates.
- For an accurate quote: send the exact model, your Gurgaon address with pin code, where you will stay in Leh, the date you land in Leh, and whether the bike also needs to come back.
Plan your Gurgaon to Leh bike move
Share your model, pickup and delivery areas and preferred date. Confirm the available arrangements and itemised scope before booking.
Who sends a bike from Gurgaon to Leh, and why it is a different booking
A Gurgaon to Bangalore move is planned around a joining date and two apartment gates. A Gurgaon to Leh booking is planned around a flight ticket, the state of two mountain highways and the fact that you should not ride on the day you land. Four kinds of people usually ask us for this route:
- Riders on a Ladakh trip who fly in. They want Khardung La, Nubra and Pangong on their own bike, but cannot take two extra weeks off. Shipping one way, or both ways, saves the long days on the plains and on the Manali or Srinagar highway.
- Riders who ride one way and ship the other. Many people ride up via Manali or Srinagar and send the bike back, or ship it up and ride home slowly. Each needs a different booking.
- People posted in Leh. Defence and paramilitary personnel, government staff, doctors, teachers and private employees who will live in Leh for months or years and want their own two-wheeler there.
- Seasonal workers. Hotel, café and tour staff who spend the summer season in Leh and need a bike for local commuting.
For the first three, the date the bike reaches Leh matters more than how fast it travels. For the last two, the return date in October often matters just as much.
Gurgaon to Leh bike transport charges by bike type
The bands below are for one running two-wheeler moving by road from Gurgaon to Leh town during the road season. They are planning figures, not fixed tariffs or past invoices. Your written quote depends on the exact model, both addresses, the month and the scope you choose.
| Bike category | Typical models | Indicative one-way band, Gurgaon to Leh | Indicative road transit after dispatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scooter / small EV | Activa, Jupiter, Access, Ntorq | ₹7,500 – ₹10,000 | About 4–7 working days |
| Commuter motorcycle | Splendor, Shine, Pulsar 150, Apache 160 | ₹8,000 – ₹10,500 | About 4–7 working days |
| 350cc-class and mid-weight | Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter, Himalayan 450, Scram 411, Xpulse 200, Dominar 400 | ₹9,500 – ₹13,000 | About 4–7 working days |
| Large or premium (650cc+ class) | Interceptor 650, Super Meteor, KTM 890, BMW GS range, Triumph Tiger | ₹14,000 – ₹22,000 | About 5–8 working days; crate or dedicated slot assessed |
| Return leg, Leh to Gurgaon | Any of the above | Quoted separately; usually in a similar band, subject to carrier space from Leh | Depends on carrier departures from Leh, which thin out after September |
Transit days count from the day the carrier leaves, not from the pickup date in Gurgaon. A highway closure stops the clock, and nobody can promise a delivery date through a snow or landslide blockage.
Why Leh costs more than a plains route of similar distance
Gurgaon to Leh is shorter than Gurgaon to Bangalore, but it usually costs more. The reasons are practical:
- Trucks climb several high passes and move slowly, so the vehicle is on the road longer for the same kilometres.
- The season is short. Carriers have only a few months to recover the cost of running this route.
- Return loads out of Leh are limited, so part of the empty trip back is built into the fare.
- Fewer carriers accept two-wheelers for Leh at all, which means fewer departures to consolidate on.
- Holding a bike while a highway is blocked costs money, and someone has to carry that risk.
Cross-check a quote against a published market rate
Allcargo Gati announced revised all-inclusive Bike Express rates of ₹9,999 for bikes up to 150cc and ₹11,999 for bikes above 150cc, on a prepaid basis, and said the service now covers Leh. That is a national flat rate with its own terms, not our tariff. It is useful as a reference: if a Gurgaon to Leh quote for a 350cc bike is far below this level, ask what has been left out, such as doorstep delivery in Leh, packing or cover.
What the bands assume, and what to confirm in writing
Each band assumes a running bike, packing suited to its category, collection from a normally accessible Gurgaon address and handover at a motorable point in Leh town during the season. Before you confirm, check that the written quote states:
- whether delivery is to your guest house, to the nearest motorable road, or for collection at a point in Leh;
- GST, and how it appears on the invoice;
- transit cover: declared value, premium and main exclusions;
- what happens, and who pays, if the bike is held because a highway is closed;
- holding charges in Leh if the bike arrives before you do;
- basement roll-out or extra hands at the Gurgaon end;
- delivery beyond Leh town, for example to Nubra or Kargil;
- whether the return leg is booked now or only quoted.
Gurgaon to Leh road distance and the two routes into Ladakh
There are two road approaches to Leh. The carrier chooses one based on which highway is open to goods vehicles and where its trucks are running that week. You do not need to pick the route, but you should know which one your bike is likely to take, because it changes the transit time.
| Route | Approximate road distance from Gurgaon | Main high points | What it means for your bike |
|---|---|---|---|
| Via Chandigarh, Manali and the Manali–Leh highway | About 1,000 km | Atal Tunnel (bypasses Rohtang), Baralacha La, Nakee La, Lachulung La, Tanglang La | Shorter, but opens later in the year and can shut early with snow at Baralacha La. Goods trucks are sometimes held at Darcha when light vehicles are still moving. |
| Via Jammu, Srinagar, Zojila and Kargil | About 1,250 km | Zojila, Namika La, Fotu La | Longer, but usually open for more of the year. Movement over Zojila can be one-way on alternate days early in the season, which adds waiting time. |
Distances are approximate and depend on the exact pickup sector in Gurgaon and the road taken. A third road into Ladakh, from Darcha over Shinku La to Padum in Zanskar, has opened in recent seasons, but it is not a normal two-wheeler freight route.
Road season: which months a bike can reach Leh by road
This is the single biggest difference between Leh and any other route on our site. A bike can only travel to Leh by road while at least one highway is open to goods vehicles. The dates move every year with the snow, so treat this table as a planning pattern and check the current status before you fix your flight.
| Period | Usual road situation | What to expect for a bike booking |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-November to March | Both highways normally closed. Leh is reached by air. | No road delivery. We do not accept a booking that depends on a closed road. Plan for the next season. |
| April to mid-May | Srinagar–Leh usually reopens first, sometimes with one-way movement on alternate days. Manali–Leh is still being cleared. | Limited departures. Possible on some dates via Srinagar; transit can be slow. Ask before you book flights. |
| Late May to June | Manali–Leh opens. In 2026 BRO connected both ends in mid-May and full two-way civilian traffic resumed from early June. | Season starts properly. Early weeks can see delays as the road settles. Book three to four weeks ahead for June arrivals. |
| July to mid-September | Both highways usually open. Monsoon landslides and water crossings can still stop traffic for a day or more. | Peak demand from riders. Book early and keep a buffer of a few days before your first ride. |
| Mid-September to October | Early snow at Baralacha La can close the Manali side with little warning, sometimes for days. Srinagar–Leh usually stays open longer. | Fine for sending a bike up if you accept some risk. This is when most return shipments from Leh are needed, so book the return leg before you ride up. |
| Early November | Manali side normally restricted or closed. Srinagar side open until snow at Zojila. | Last chance for road movement in either direction. Not a period to plan a holiday ride around. |
"Open for light vehicles" does not mean your bike's truck can go
Each spring, news reports say the Manali–Leh road is open, and riders book flights the same evening. Often the opening is for light motor vehicles only, or for one-way movement. Goods trucks, which is what carries your bike, may still be held at Darcha or Manali until the authorities allow heavy vehicles through. The same happens in autumn after fresh snow: cars may be let through while trucks wait. When you ask for a quote early or late in the season, ask whether goods vehicles are moving on the route, not just whether the road is open.
Planning dates around your flight and acclimatisation
Leh town is at about 3,500 metres. If you fly in from Delhi, the standard advice from doctors and from people who live there is to rest for at least the first 24 to 48 hours and not ride on the day you land. This actually helps with bike transport, because you do not need the bike on day one.
A practical way to plan a trip booking:
- Fix your Leh arrival date first. Then count backwards.
- Aim for delivery on day 2 or day 3 after you land. You will have rested, and you can check the bike in daylight without rushing.
- Ask for the pickup and expected dispatch dates in Gurgaon. In season, pickup is usually needed about 8 to 12 days before you want the bike in Leh, depending on when a carrier going that way has space.
- Decide what happens if the bike arrives early. Either name a receiver in Leh, usually your guest house or hotel, or agree holding in writing with the daily charge.
- Decide what happens if the bike is late. A highway blockage can add days. Keep your first day trip short, for example Leh local sightseeing, so a one-day delay does not wreck the plan.
- Book the return leg now if you are not riding back. Give the date you want to hand the bike over in Leh and the date you fly out.
If you are posted in Leh and travelling by air, the same rule applies. Do not plan to ride to office on your first morning. Arrange a lift or a local taxi for the first few days.
Own bike or rented bike in Ladakh: why shipping your own can make sense
A rule that catches many first-time visitors: motorcycles rented outside Ladakh, from Delhi, Manali or Chandigarh, are generally not allowed for sightseeing inside Ladakh. Local rental and taxi unions have enforced this for years. An outside rented bike can be ridden to Leh, but for Nubra, Pangong and Khardung La you are expected to hire a bike in Leh. Privately owned bikes are allowed to go anywhere tourists are permitted.
This is one reason people ship their own bike. You ride a machine you know, with your own seat, tyres and luggage set-up, and you are not dependent on what the Leh rental shops have left in peak season.
- Your own bike: carry the original RC, insurance, PUC and your driving licence.
- A parent's, sibling's or friend's bike: carry a signed NOC or authorisation letter from the RC owner, with a copy of their ID. Checkpoints and police outside Leh may ask for it.
- A company-owned or leased bike: carry an authorisation letter on company letterhead. Tell us at booking, because the transport documents also need it.
- A bike that is itself on rent from an outside operator: we will not ship it to Leh for sightseeing use. The rule applies to the bike, not to how it got there.
Getting the bike ready for Ladakh before pickup in Gurgaon
Workshops in Leh are busy in season, and parts for less common models can take days to arrive. Anything you would get fixed in Gurgaon for a few hundred rupees is worth doing before the bike leaves.
- Service it a week before pickup, not the day before. That leaves time to fix whatever the mechanic finds.
- Fuel system: most current bikes are fuel-injected and adjust to altitude. An older carburettor bike can run rich and lose power at height; ask your mechanic to check the tuning.
- Tyres, brake pads, chain and sprockets: replace anything near the end of its life. Long descents and broken stretches wear them quickly.
- Battery: mornings are cold even in summer. A weak battery that starts fine in Gurgaon may struggle in Leh.
- Small spares: a clutch cable, accelerator cable, spare tube and a puncture kit take little space. Pack them in your own luggage, not tied to the bike, unless they are listed on the condition record.
- Luggage racks and saddle stays: these can stay fitted. Tell us, because they change the packing. Bags, helmets and riding gear should travel with you on the flight.
- Fuel: follow the carrier's current instruction. The easiest way to arrive with a low tank is to plan your last few rides in Gurgaon. Do not siphon or drain petrol yourself in a parking area.
Electric scooters and bikes
An EV can be carried if the exact model is accepted, but think hard about using one in Ladakh. Public charging outside Leh town is very limited, cold mornings reduce range, and the distances between places are long. If you are posted in Leh and will mostly ride in town, check that you can charge at your accommodation before you book.
Delivery in Leh: town, guest houses and places beyond
Many visitors stay in guest houses down narrow lanes where a loading vehicle cannot turn. For delivery, what matters is the nearest point where the vehicle can stop, and who will receive the bike if you are out.
| Receiving area | Typical situation | What to tell us |
|---|---|---|
| Central Leh: Main Bazaar, Fort Road and nearby roads | Busy in season, limited stopping space in the day | A landmark and a time window when the receiver can come to the road |
| Changspa, Skara, Sankar and similar guest-house areas | Narrow lanes; handover is often on the nearest wider road | Name and number of the guest-house owner or manager if they will receive it; a dropped pin |
| Choglamsar, Spituk and the airport side | Easier vehicle access; common for people on postings and for longer stays | Exact address, gate or unit details if it is an official accommodation |
| Beyond Leh: Nubra, Kargil, Thiksey, Nimmu and other villages | Outside the normal delivery area | Ask at quote stage. Often it is simpler to receive the bike in Leh and ride on. |
If your guest house will receive the bike before you arrive, share the pickup condition photos with them, and ask them to note any visible damage on the delivery record rather than simply signing. You will still do your own inspection when you get there.
Delivery to a defence or government campus depends on that campus's entry rules. Tell us if the address is inside one, and who will come to the gate.
Sending the bike back from Leh to Gurgaon
The return leg is where most Leh trips go wrong. Riders assume they can find a carrier in Leh at the end of the trip, then discover that space is short in late September and October, or that the Manali side has closed early.
- Book the return before you ride up. Give the date you want to hand the bike over and the date you fly out. Leave at least a day between the two.
- Agree the handover point in Leh in advance. It may be your guest house, a fixed point in town or a collection yard.
- Wash off the dust before the handover if you can. A clean bike makes the condition record honest. Scratches hide under Ladakh dust and show up in Gurgaon.
- Record new marks from your trip on the pickup record in Leh. A fall on a gravel stretch is not transit damage, and writing it down protects both sides.
- Remove everything you want to keep: tank bag, mobile holder, spares, bungee cords.
- Late in the season, keep a plan B. If both highways close before dispatch, the bike may have to wait in Leh until spring. Ask in writing what happens in that case and what it costs.
Riding back yourself? On the Manali route, the last petrol pump before Leh is at Tandi in Lahaul, and the stretch between Tandi and Leh is about 365 km without fuel. Fill up in Leh before you start, and carry a small extra quantity if your tank range is short.
Ride, ship or train: comparing the options from Gurgaon
| Option | Extra leave days, roughly | Main costs | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ride both ways from Gurgaon | 6–8 days for the two approach rides | Fuel, stays en route, wear on the bike | Riders who want the Manali and Srinagar highways as part of the trip |
| Ride up, ship back | 3–4 days | Fuel up, one-way transport down, flight home | Riders who want one highway ride but are short of leave at the end |
| Ship up, ride back | 3–4 days | One-way transport up, flight in, fuel down | Riders who prefer to acclimatise in Leh before tackling the passes |
| Ship both ways | None for the approach | Two transport legs, two flights | People with 8–10 days who want to spend all of it inside Ladakh |
| Train to a railhead, then ride | 4–6 days in total | Rail charge, station packing, fuel from the railhead | Budget riders who can handle station formalities and the empty-tank rule |
| Rent a bike in Leh | None | Daily union rental rate, deposit | First-timers who do not own a suitable bike |
There is no railway station in Leh. Riders who use rail usually book to Jammu Tawi for the Srinagar route or to Chandigarh for the Manali route, and ride from there. If you are thinking of that, our Gurgaon to Chandigarh bike transport guide covers sending the bike to Chandigarh or Mohali by road, which some riders use instead of a rail booking. The main Gurgaon bike transport page compares road and rail in more detail.
Documents for transport and for Ladakh
| Purpose | What is usually needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Booking and carriage | Copies of the RC, current insurance and the owner's photo ID; an authorisation letter if the sender is not the RC owner | Ask which copies travel with the bike. Keep the originals with you for riding. |
| Riding in Ladakh | Original RC, insurance, PUC certificate and driving licence; NOC from the owner if the bike is not yours | Check expiry dates before the trip. Renewing insurance or PUC from Leh is not convenient. |
| Permits for Indian citizens | The Ladakh administration removed the Inner Line Permit requirement for domestic tourists in 2021. An environment or similar fee may still be collected. | Check the current fee and any restricted border areas with the Leh administration before you travel. |
| Foreign nationals | Protected Area Permit through a registered agent in Leh | Needed for Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri and similar areas |
| Staying in Leh more than twelve months | Reassignment of registration in Ladakh, normally with a clearance (NOC) from the Haryana registering authority | Relevant for postings, not trips. Check Ladakh's current road tax rules for outside vehicles. |
| Financed bike | Lender's clearance may be needed for reassignment | Mention it at booking if the RC shows hypothecation |
How we handle the document copies you share is set out in our privacy policy. Share only what is needed, and use a masked Aadhaar copy where it is accepted.
Condition record on a mountain route
The general pickup and delivery checklist on our main page applies to Leh as well. A few points matter more on this route:
- Photograph the underside, crash guard and bash plate at pickup, not just the four sides. Long hill roads can loosen fittings, and you want a clear before-and-after.
- Note the tyre condition and pressure. If the bike sits in cold weather on the way, tyres can lose some pressure without any damage.
- Inspect in daylight in Leh. Evenings get cold quickly and light fades early in the valley; a hurried check at 7 pm is how marks get missed.
- Check that the bike rolls, steers and brakes normally before you start it, and let it idle for a minute in the cold before riding off.
- Write any problem on the delivery record before signing, and photograph it there and then. Network in some parts of Leh is patchy, so save photos locally and send them once you have signal.
Worked example: a hypothetical fly-and-ride Ladakh trip from Gurgaon
This is an illustrative planning scenario. It is not an invoice, a completed move or a customer review, and the amounts are examples, not quotes.
Scenario: a Royal Enfield Classic 350 parked in open society parking in Sector 57. The owner flies to Leh on a Saturday in mid-July, stays in a guest house in Changspa, rides inside Ladakh for eight days and flies back. The bike is shipped both ways.
| Item | Example amount | What would change it |
|---|---|---|
| Gurgaon to Leh, 350cc band, standard packing, handover on the road nearest the guest house | ₹11,500 | Exact model, accessories fitted, month, carrier space |
| Transit cover on a declared value of ₹1,60,000 (example only) | ₹1,200 | Policy, declared value, exclusions |
| Holding in Leh for two days because the bike arrived early (example ₹200 a day) | ₹400, or ₹0 if the guest house receives it | Naming a receiver in Leh |
| Leh to Gurgaon return, booked before the trip | ₹11,500 | Carrier departures from Leh, handover point |
| Transit cover on the return | ₹1,200 | As above |
| GST | As shown on the invoice | Not assumed here; check how your quote shows it |
Dates in this example: the Saturday flight is trip day 1. Pickup in Gurgaon is on the Wednesday ten calendar days before that flight, with dispatch two days later, on the Friday eight days before the flight. Delivery in Leh is the Sunday after the flight (trip day 2), not the Sunday immediately after dispatch. Return handover is on the morning of trip day 10, with the flight home on day 11. These are illustrative dates; agree the actual dispatch and receiving window before booking.
The transport comes to about ₹25,400 to ₹25,800 plus GST for both legs. The owner saves roughly six to eight days of riding on the plains and approach highways, and avoids renting in Leh. Whether that is worth it depends on how many leave days you have and what a Leh union rental would cost for the same number of days. Compare the two honestly before you book.
Mistakes that cost money on Gurgaon to Leh bookings
- Booking flights on the news of a road opening. Confirm that goods vehicles are moving before you fix the dates.
- Planning to ride on the day you land. Schedule delivery for day 2 or 3 instead. Your body and your budget both do better.
- Leaving the return leg to the end of the trip. Carrier space from Leh is tight from September.
- Shipping a bike that needs work. A worn chain or weak battery is cheaper to sort out in Gurgaon than in Leh in July.
- Tying luggage, helmets or riding gear to the bike. Unlisted items are not part of the record and may not be covered. Carry them on the flight.
- Giving only "Leh" as the address. Give the guest house name, a dropped pin and the receiver's number.
- Taking a relative's bike without an NOC. It may be fine at the booking stage and a problem at a checkpoint.
- Under-declaring the value to save on cover. On a mountain route, that saving can cost far more later.

Frequently asked questions about bike transport from Gurgaon to Leh
How much does it cost to send a bike from Gurgaon to Leh?
During the road season, our indicative one-way bands are about ₹8,000–₹10,500 for a commuter motorcycle and ₹9,500–₹13,000 for a 350cc-class bike such as a Classic 350 or Himalayan. Scooters start around ₹7,500, and large premium bikes can go above ₹14,000. The final figure depends on the exact model, the month, your Gurgaon address, where the bike is handed over in Leh and the cover you choose.
Can I send my bike to Leh in winter?
Not by road in a normal winter. From about mid-November to March, both the Manali–Leh and Srinagar–Leh highways are usually closed to goods traffic, and Leh is reached by air. We do not take bookings that depend on a closed road. If you are posted in Leh over winter, plan to send the bike either before the closure or once the roads reopen in spring.
How many days does bike transport from Gurgaon to Leh take?
In season, road transit is usually about 4 to 7 working days after the carrier leaves Gurgaon. On top of that, the bike may wait after pickup until a carrier going to Leh has space. For a trip, plan pickup roughly 8 to 12 days before the date you want the bike, and keep a buffer for highway blockages.
When should I book for a June or July Ladakh trip?
Three to four weeks ahead is sensible for June and July arrivals, which are the busiest months. Share your flight date when you ask for the quote, so pickup and delivery can be planned around it. If you also need the bike brought back, book that leg at the same time.
Can you also bring my bike back from Leh to Gurgaon?
Ask for the return leg in the same quote. It is priced separately and depends on carrier space out of Leh, which gets tight from September. Book it before you ride up, agree the handover point and date in Leh, and leave at least a day between handover and your flight.
Which route will the truck take, Manali or Srinagar?
The carrier decides, based on which highway is open to goods vehicles and where its trucks are running. The Manali route is about 1,000 km from Gurgaon and the Srinagar route about 1,250 km. Early and late in the season, the Srinagar side is often the one in use, and transit can be slower.
Is a bike rented in Delhi or Manali allowed for sightseeing in Ladakh?
Generally no. Bikes rented outside Ladakh can be ridden to Leh, but local unions do not allow them for sightseeing at places like Nubra, Pangong and Khardung La. Your own privately owned bike is allowed. If you are using a family member's bike, carry a signed NOC from the RC owner.
Do I need an Inner Line Permit to ride my bike to Nubra or Pangong?
Indian citizens no longer need an Inner Line Permit; the Ladakh administration removed that requirement for domestic tourists in 2021. An environment or similar fee may still be charged, and some border areas remain restricted. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit. Check the current rules with the Leh administration before you travel.
Can the bike be delivered to my guest house in Changspa or elsewhere in Leh?
Usually the handover is at the nearest point where the loading vehicle can stop, which in many guest-house lanes is the main road nearby. Share a dropped pin, a landmark and the receiver's phone number. If the guest house will receive the bike before you arrive, name the person on the booking.
Can you deliver to Nubra, Kargil or other places outside Leh town?
Delivery beyond Leh town is assessed separately and is not always possible. In most cases it is simpler and cheaper to receive the bike in Leh and ride on from there. Ask at the quote stage if you need a different receiving point.
Should I send a Royal Enfield or my commuter bike to Ladakh?
Both can make the trip if they are in good condition. A 350cc-class bike costs a little more to transport, but is easier on long climbs with luggage. Whatever you send, get it serviced before pickup, replace worn tyres and chain, and check the battery. Fuel-injected bikes cope better with altitude than older carburettor models.
Can I send my riding gear and luggage with the bike?
We advise against it. Helmets, jackets and bags are best carried on your flight. Anything that travels with the bike has to be listed on the condition record and accepted for carriage; unlisted items are not part of the record and may not be covered.
What if the highway closes while my bike is on the way?
The truck waits until the road reopens, and the delivery date moves. Nobody can promise a date through a snow or landslide blockage. Ask before you book what happens to holding and charges in that case, and keep the first day or two of your trip flexible.
What if I reach Leh before the bike, or the bike reaches before me?
If you arrive first, rest; you should not ride on the first day anyway. If the bike arrives first, it can be received by a named person, usually your guest house, or held at an agreed charge per day. Agree the holding terms in writing before pickup in Gurgaon.
Is transit insurance included in the Gurgaon to Leh quote?
Do not assume it is. The written quote should state whether transit cover is included, the declared value, the premium and the main exclusions. Your motor insurance may not cover the bike while it is carried as goods. Cover improves your position if something goes wrong, but whether a claim is accepted depends on the policy and the evidence you have.
I am posted in Leh for two years. Do I need to re-register my Haryana bike?
Transporting the bike does not need an NOC. If you keep it in Ladakh for more than twelve months, reassignment of registration usually applies, which normally needs a clearance from the Haryana registering authority. Check Ladakh's current road tax rules for outside vehicles with the transport department in Leh.
