Bike Transport Gurgaon to Mumbai: Pickup and Delivery Planning
Moving from Gurugram to Mumbai usually means juggling a notice period, a flat or PG search, a flight or train ticket and a society move-out, all inside the same fortnight. Your bike or scooter becomes one more handover in that list. On this route, most problems do not begin on the highway. They begin at the two ends: a Gurgaon basement that needs a vehicle exit approval, a "Mumbai" address that is really in Thane West or Kharghar, an office campus whose security will not sign for a personal vehicle, or a receiver who is still on a train when the bike reaches the city.
BikeShift Gurgaon handles bike and scooter transport enquiries from Gurugram for relocating employees, families, students and owners who are travelling separately from their vehicle. This page explains planning charges for six model categories in two service scopes, realistic timing, what actually happens between the two cities, and how to prepare a receiving plan that matches the day your bike is dispatched.

Gurgaon to Mumbai at a Glance: Distance, Timing and Service Scopes
How far your bike actually travels
Between city reference points, the road distance from Gurugram to Mumbai is roughly 1,350 to 1,450 km. Mapped driving options we checked came out at about 1,357 km, 1,369 km and 1,437 km, using different combinations of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway (NE4), NH48 and NH52. The figure for your move depends on your pickup sector, the exact receiving address and the routing the carrier is permitted to use. No single highway is mandatory for every consignment, so treat any fixed town-by-town schedule from any provider with caution.
Why the car driving time is not your delivery time
Navigation apps show about 22 to 25 hours of driving for a passenger car. That is not the time a freight consignment takes. A bike on a shared carrier moves with other loads, follows commercial driving and halt patterns, may be transferred between vehicles, and has to be booked into a delivery slot at the far end.
For planning, allow around 4 to 6 working days after confirmed dispatch. Two steps sit outside that window:
- Before dispatch: collection from your society and any consolidation with other consignments.
- After arrival in the region: fixing the final delivery appointment with your receiver.
A faster timeline is possible only when a direct vehicle is specifically arranged and quoted for your move.
The two service scopes used in our quotes
- Hub scope: you hand over the bike at a confirmed loading point and collect it from a confirmed receiving point. The appointment and receipt are agreed in writing at both ends. Arranging the two local legs is not included unless the quote explicitly says it is.
- Doorstep scope: collection and delivery happen at agreed lawful access points, such as your society gate, building compound or the nearest spot where a vehicle can legally stop. Doorstep does not mean automatic entry into every basement, campus or private lane. Access is confirmed for your exact addresses.
Gurgaon to Mumbai Bike Transport Charges by Model
The figures below are planning ranges in Indian rupees for one assessed bike. They are not fixed all-inclusive tariffs. Your written quote replaces them once we know the exact model, condition, fitted accessories, declared value, both addresses and the scope you choose.
| Category | Typical examples (each assessed individually) | Hub scope (₹) | Doorstep scope (₹) | What usually moves the quote |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scooter | Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access, Yamaha Fascino, Honda Dio | 3,800 – 4,400 | 4,200 – 5,000 | Fitted top box, floorboard accessories, visor and panel condition |
| Commuter motorcycle | Hero Splendor Plus, Honda Shine, Bajaj Platina, Honda SP 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125/150, Yamaha FZ-S | 4,000 – 4,600 | 4,500 – 5,400 | Crash guards, rear carriers, mirror and lever condition |
| Sports / naked street | TVS Apache RTR 200, Bajaj Pulsar NS200, Yamaha MT-15, Yamaha R15, KTM Duke 200/250/390, Triumph Speed 400 | 4,600 – 5,400 | 5,200 – 6,400 | Fairings, clip-on bars, display units, aftermarket exhausts |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser and heavier middleweights | Royal Enfield Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350, Meteor 350, Himalayan 450, Interceptor 650; Jawa 42; Bajaj Dominar 400 | 5,400 – 6,400 | 6,200 – 7,600 | Kerb weight, crash bars, saddle stays, panniers, chrome parts |
| Accepted EV | Ather 450 series, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak electric, Ola S1 series, Hero Vida | 4,200 – 4,900 | 5,000 – 6,000 | Carrier acceptance for the exact model, manufacturer transport guidance, charger handling, running condition |
| Large / premium tourer | Kawasaki Z900, BMW R 1250 GS / R 1300 GS, Triumph Tiger 900, larger Harley-Davidson models, Ducati Multistrada | 8,000 – 10,000 | 9,500 – 14,000 | Declared value, width with luggage, windscreen and electronics, any assessed special packing or loading |
Why engine CC is a poor guide to price
Two bikes with similar engine sizes can need very different handling. What changes the work is how heavy and wide the bike is, what is bolted onto it, how valuable it is and what state it is in.
- A Dominar 400 is far heavier and bulkier than a 400-class naked street bike, so it sits with the heavier middleweights rather than the sports group.
- An Interceptor 650 belongs with Royal Enfield cruisers, even though its engine is above 650cc.
- A lighter model from a premium brand is assessed on its own size and weight, not on the logo.
- A commuter bike with a crash guard, a rear carrier and a fitted phone mount takes more packing time than the same model in stock form.
Tell us everything fitted to the bike when you enquire, because a mismatch on pickup day is the most common reason a quote has to be revised.
What your written quote should state
Before you confirm a booking, make sure the quote clearly shows:
- Handling stages: packing, loading, line-haul carriage and unloading.
- Local legs: whether the Gurgaon collection and the Mumbai-side delivery legs are included, and to which exact points.
- Tax: the applicable tax, shown as it applies to your booking.
- Cover: the transit cover option you have chosen and the declared value it is based on.
- Special work: any assessed special handling, such as a non-running bike, an extra-wide tourer or an accepted EV, priced as a separate line only where it genuinely applies.
- Terms: payment and cancellation terms as accepted at booking. Our general terms are on the terms and conditions page.
If any of these is left vague, ask for it in writing. A clear quote protects you more than a low headline number.
Hub Versus Doorstep: Working Out the True Two-End Cost
A hub quote looks cheaper on paper because it leaves the local legs to you. Whether it actually saves money depends on how far you live from the confirmed loading point in Gurugram, and how far your Mumbai-side home is from the confirmed receiving point. It also costs time: you, or someone you authorise, must keep two appointments in person.
A worked example (hypothetical, not a real invoice)
The figures below illustrate the arithmetic only. They are not a real booking or a case study. The assumptions are:
- One commuter motorcycle in stock condition.
- A hub-scope quote of ₹4,300 and a doorstep-scope quote of ₹5,000, both inside the ranges above. For this example, each quoted figure is assumed to already show the applicable tax.
- For hub scope, the owner rides to the Gurugram loading point and takes a cab home (assumed ₹350). In Mumbai, the owner takes a cab to the receiving point and rides home (assumed ₹450).
- Transit cover is left out of both columns because it depends on declared value and the policy chosen. Add the same amount to each.
| Cost item | Hub scope (₹) | Doorstep scope (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted carriage and agreed handling | 4,300 | 5,000 |
| Owner's Gurugram local leg (assumed) | 350 | 0 (included in scope) |
| Owner's Mumbai-side local leg (assumed) | 450 | 0 (included in scope) |
| Total cash outlay | 5,100 | 5,000 |
| In-person appointments needed | Two trips to fixed points | Present at two agreed slots near home |
In this example, doorstep scope costs ₹100 less once the owner's own travel is counted, and it saves two trips. The result flips if you live close to both confirmed points, or can combine the trips with errands you already have to run.
Leave room for anything your own situation adds. If the receiver cannot be present on the agreed day and the bike has to be held or redelivered, that arrangement and any charge for it should be agreed before dispatch, not discovered afterwards.
Shared line-haul or a separately arranged direct vehicle
Most bikes on this route travel by shared line-haul. The bike is collected by a local vehicle, may be consolidated with other consignments, travels on a carrier serving several customers and may be moved to a smaller local vehicle for delivery on the Mumbai side. Sharing the long-distance vehicle keeps the cost within the ranges above. The trade-off is that dispatch depends on the load being ready, and an extra transfer adds one more handling point.
An exclusive or direct vehicle carries only your consignment and can cut waiting time, but it is arranged separately and priced separately. It makes sense for a high-value tourer, a fixed joining date or a move involving several vehicles, and rarely for a single scooter.
Agree how updates will be shared for collection, confirmed dispatch, arrival in the region and delivery scheduling. If live vehicle tracking is important to you, confirm whether it is available for your booking and what the updates will show.
Why "Mumbai" Is Not One Receiving Point
People in Gurgaon often say they are moving "to Mumbai" when the flat is actually in Thane, Navi Mumbai or Mira Road. For transport, that difference matters. The official District Thane administration website lists separate municipal corporations for Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Ulhasnagar and Mira-Bhayandar. Each is a distinct urban area with its own roads, local rules and building access.
We mention this only to make a practical point: a delivery inside the Mumbai Metropolitan Region is not one interchangeable drop. It does not imply any government link, automatic coverage of every locality or a uniform delivery fee. The exact receiving point is confirmed for each booking, and it shapes both the delivery scope and the appointment time.
Receiving decision table
| Receiving situation | What to share at enquiry | How it changes scope or timing | Practical fallback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Western suburbs (for example Andheri, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali) | East or West side of the railway line, building and society name, exact gate, lane landmark, PIN code | Which side you are on changes the local approach, so the appointment window is fixed once the exact gate is known | Agree a second gate or a nearby lawful stopping point in advance, with the receiver walking the bike in |
| Older building in central or south Mumbai | Whether there is a compound, steps or a ramp, lane width, and where a vehicle can lawfully stop and the bike can be rolled | Doorstep scope may end at the nearest lawful unloading point, with the bike rolled to the compound by hand | Receiver meets the vehicle at the agreed point; inspection happens before the bike is moved inside |
| Office campus in BKC, Powai or Andheri, versus a rented home | Whether the facility accepts personal vehicles, the security desk contact, and the home address as an alternative | Campus security may refuse a personal consignment or restrict vehicles to set windows, which can delay or block the handover | Deliver to the home address with a named receiver, or obtain written permission from facility management before dispatch |
| Thane (for example Thane West, Thane East, Ghodbunder Road complexes) | Side of the city, complex name and phase or tower, gate, society delivery rules | Large complexes often need a visitor or vehicle approval and a booked slot before a vehicle is let in | Handover at the main gate with the receiver present, rather than at the parking bay |
| Navi Mumbai (for example Vashi, Nerul, Kharghar, Airoli, Ulwe) | Exact node, sector number, plot or building name and PIN code; the node name alone is not enough | Sectors spread across a wide area, so the local leg and appointment are planned to the exact sector | A clearly named nearby landmark within the same sector, agreed with the receiver beforehand |
| Panvel, Mira-Bhayandar or other outer endpoints | The complete address, so the endpoint can be assessed before a scope is promised | The quote confirms whether doorstep scope applies to that address and how the appointment is set | Hub-scope collection from a confirmed receiving point if doorstep delivery to that address is not confirmed |
Vehicle entry timings, lane restrictions and building rules differ from place to place and can change. We do not rely on universal rules. Each delivery is planned around the specific address, and if something prevents the agreed handover on the day, the fallback you chose is used instead of an improvised one.
Handover Worksheet: Linking Dispatch to Your Own Move
The bike's journey and your own journey run on different clocks. You may fly to Mumbai on a Friday and collect the flat keys on Monday, while the bike reaches the region on Wednesday. Filling in the worksheet below before booking keeps those dates from colliding.
| Detail to confirm | Why it matters | Who confirms it |
|---|---|---|
| Gurgaon society or office release for the pickup vehicle | Many societies need a visitor or vehicle approval through their security app or desk before a commercial vehicle can reach the parking area | Owner, with the society security desk |
| Pickup slot and the person handing over | The condition record must be signed by whoever hands over the bike | Owner and BikeShift Gurgaon |
| Owner's flight or train date | Pickup should not be squeezed into the last morning before you leave the city | Owner |
| Exact receiving address with gate and PIN code | This decides the scope, the local leg and the appointment window | Owner |
| Named authorised receiver, phone number and ID | The bike is handed only to the person named, after matching their ID | Owner, in writing |
| Society delivery slot or appointment in Mumbai | Your society's appointment may not match the day the carrier reaches the city | Receiver, with their society |
| Home keys and parking permission at the receiving address | A bike that arrives before you have keys or a parking slot has nowhere to go | Owner, with the landlord or PG manager |
| Which bike key travels with the consignment | One key goes with the bike; keep the spare with you and note this on the record | Owner and BikeShift Gurgaon |
| Alternate receiver, holding or redelivery arrangement | Plans change; an agreed fallback avoids a missed handover | Owner and BikeShift Gurgaon, before dispatch |
When the office address is not a real receiving address
It is tempting to use your new office in BKC, Powai or Andheri as the delivery address, because you know you will be there on a weekday. But an office is not automatically a place where a personal bike can be received. Building security may refuse to sign for it, may not let a delivery vehicle in, or may have no parking for an unregistered visitor vehicle. If the office is genuinely the only option, get written permission from facility management before dispatch and share the contact person. Otherwise, choose a home address with a named receiver.
Staying in a PG first, moving to a flat later
Many people start in Mumbai with a few weeks in a PG or company guest house before signing a lease. If that is your plan, sort out the following before the bike is dispatched, not after it arrives:
- Parking permission: ask the PG manager whether you can keep a bike there and whether they will allow a delivery.
- Alternate receiver: name someone who can accept the bike if you are at work or still travelling.
- Holding or redelivery: if the PG cannot take the bike, ask whether a holding or later redelivery arrangement is possible and get its terms in writing.
A bike sent to an address nobody can receive at, waiting for a flat that is not yet confirmed, causes more trouble than any highway delay.
Packing and Handling by Model
Packing for this route is about protecting the parts that rub, crack or bend during loading, transit vibration and unloading. It is not about making a bike weatherproof or rust-proof; no wrapping can promise that. The packing level for your bike is agreed in the quote.
Typical materials include:
- foam sheet on painted panels;
- bubble wrap over the engine area and exhaust;
- edge protection on levers, footrests and indicators;
- a protective outer wrap.
Mirrors are removed where practical, wrapped and listed on the condition record. Inside the vehicle, the bike is held upright with its wheels blocked and tie-downs anchored to strong frame points rather than across bodywork.
| Category | Parts that need care | Handling notes |
|---|---|---|
| Scooter | Front apron, visor, side panels, floorboard edges | Light body panels scratch easily; straps should not bear on plastic panels |
| Commuter motorcycle | Mirrors, levers, indicators, tank sides | Usually simple to load; fitted carriers and guards are listed and protected |
| Sports / naked street | Fairings, clip-ons, display, rear sets, exhaust end can | Tie-downs go to frame points chosen for the model; the display and fairing edges are padded |
| Royal Enfield / cruiser and heavier middleweights | Chrome exhaust, crash bars, tank, panniers and racks | The extra weight needs careful loading and secure anchoring; luggage is removed or declared |
| Accepted EV | Display, body panels, charging port, charger | Handled per the exact model's requirements; the charger is packed and recorded separately |
| Large / premium tourer | Windscreen, electronics, panniers, wide bars, aftermarket parts | Assessed before quoting; any special packing or loading is agreed and priced in writing |
Electric scooters and EV bikes
An EV is accepted only after checking the exact model against the carrier's acceptance rules and the manufacturer's transport requirements. We do not apply one universal rule on battery charge level, isolation or removal, because these differ between models and manufacturers. Any battery handling is done only as the manufacturer or its authorised service allows.
Share the model, variant and battery configuration when you enquire. Keep the manufacturer's guidance handy, and note on the condition record whether the charger travels with the bike.
Non-running, restored and modified bikes
A bike that does not start, has a seized part or is mid-restoration needs a different loading plan, because it cannot be ridden or wheeled normally. Mention this at enquiry so it can be assessed. Any extra handling is quoted in advance, never added on the day. Loud aftermarket exhausts, extended footpegs or custom paint are also worth flagging so they are protected and recorded properly.
Wet-Weather Receiving Plan for Mumbai
Gurugram can be dry when you pack, while Mumbai may be in the middle of heavy rain when the bike arrives. Moisture becomes a problem mainly when a wet bike is sealed in, or when it is unpacked and inspected in the rain where damage is hard to see. A simple plan at both ends handles most of this.
- Dry before packing: if the bike has been washed or caught in rain in Gurgaon, let it dry fully before wrapping. A wet bike should not be sealed in film.
- Choose a sheltered, lawful unpacking spot: agree a covered area at the receiving address, such as a stilt parking, porch or compound shed, where the wrapping can be removed and the bike checked without standing in rain.
- Inspect in good light: photograph the bike from all sides before signing, including close-ups of the tank, panels, exhaust and any accessories.
- Note moisture or damage on the receipt: if you find water inside the wrapping, condensation or any mark, write it on the delivery receipt with the time and keep the photographs.
- Check the small items: confirm the key, the EV charger if it travelled, and any removed parts such as mirrors, against the list on the condition record.
- Leave the treatment to you: after delivery, dry the bike, check the brakes before riding and follow your own service routine. We do not recommend specific chemical treatments as part of delivery.
Preparation and the Booking-to-Handover Process
Before the pickup crew arrives
- Clean and dry the bike so marks are visible during the condition check.
- Take your own photographs and a short video showing all sides, existing scratches, the odometer and the fuel gauge.
- Remove loose accessories such as phone holders, tank bags, camera mounts and soft luggage. If you want any of them carried, ask first, then list them on the record.
- Keep fuel low, as the carrier advises for road transport. Do not drain the tank yourself or carry fuel in bottles.
- Note warning lights and running problems so they are recorded at handover, not discovered as "new" in Mumbai.
- Keep the spare key with you.
- Keep document copies ready, as listed in the documents section below.
- Arrange the society's vehicle approval for the pickup slot.
- Take valuables out: no cash, jewellery or original documents in the under-seat boot.
From enquiry to delivery
- Enquiry: share both addresses, the model, accessories, condition and your travel dates through the quote form or by phone.
- Assessment and written quote: the quote states the scope, inclusions, cover choice, applicable tax and terms.
- Booking confirmation: under the terms you accept, with the pickup slot fixed.
- Pickup and condition record: photographs, odometer reading, fuel level and an accessories list, signed by the person handing over.
- Packing and loading: as agreed for the model.
- Dispatch confirmation: the planning window of about 4 to 6 working days starts here, not at pickup.
- Milestone updates: dispatch, arrival in the region and scheduling of the delivery appointment.
- Delivery and inspection: the named receiver checks the bike against the condition record and signs, noting any issue.
Condition and odometer evidence
The condition record is the single most useful document in a bike move. At pickup it should show:
- the odometer reading and fuel level;
- existing marks, dents and cracks, with close-ups;
- fitted accessories and removed parts;
- the key count;
- the date and time.
At delivery, compare the bike against that record before signing. A small odometer change can come from short moves during loading. Anything beyond that, or any new mark, should be written on the receipt there and then, with photographs.
Documents for Transport Versus Long-Stay Registration and Tax
What the transport booking needs
For the transport itself, keep copies ready:
- the registration certificate (RC);
- the current insurance policy;
- the owner's photo ID;
- the PUC certificate, where applicable;
- a signed authorisation letter, if someone other than the RC owner hands over or receives the bike.
Keep the originals with you, because you will need them to ride once the bike reaches Mumbai.
Long-stay registration, tax and finance are separate questions
A carrier accepting your bike settles nothing about what you owe Maharashtra later. The rules on re-registering a vehicle kept in another state, and on when state road tax becomes payable, are separate matters. They depend on how long you stay, the vehicle and current state rules. If the bike is under a loan, the lender's permission or NOC will also matter for any change of registration.
We do not give one universal answer on whether you need an NOC, or how many months you can ride without action. Check your position with the Maharashtra transport department or your local RTO once you know how long you are staying, and with your lender if the RC shows hypothecation.
Road Carrier, Railway Parcel, Accompanied Luggage or Riding Yourself
Each option can work. The right one depends on your budget, your timeline and how much of the work you want to do yourself. Railway parcel and accompanied luggage are not the same thing, and the exact station, train and model acceptance must be checked with the railway for your journey.
| Factor | Road carrier | Railway parcel | Accompanied rail luggage | Riding yourself |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Handover | At home (doorstep) or a confirmed point (hub) | You take the bike to the parcel office at the booking station | You book and hand it over against your own journey ticket | None |
| Which train | Not applicable | May not travel on your train; depends on parcel space | Intended to travel with you, subject to acceptance on that train | Not applicable |
| Fuel | Kept low as the carrier advises | Official railway guidance requires an empty tank | Official railway guidance requires an empty tank | Normal riding |
| Packing | Agreed in the quote | Arranged by you, to the railway's requirements | Arranged by you, to the railway's requirements | Not needed |
| Collection in Mumbai | At the agreed address or confirmed point | From the destination station's parcel office | At the destination station, after you arrive | You arrive with it |
| Main trade-off | Higher cost for less personal effort | Lower cost, but more running around and a less predictable arrival | Arrives around when you do, but needs careful planning at both stations | Roughly 1,350–1,450 km over several days: fatigue, weather, stays and wear on the bike |
For a scooter, also remember that "scooty parcel" by rail still means packing, an empty tank, two station visits and getting a dry-tank scooter to a fuel pump in Mumbai. For a large tourer, riding may appeal, but count the fuel, overnight stays, tyre wear, the risk of heavy rain and the leave days you would need, against a road carrier quote.
Transit Cover and Claims, Including Damage Found Later
Transit cover is not automatic, and it is never "full value, no questions asked". What protects you depends on what is actually issued for your booking:
- which stages it covers (packing, carriage, transfer, unloading);
- the declared value it is based on;
- its exclusions;
- how and when damage must be reported.
Ask for the cover terms in writing before dispatch, and declare a realistic value for your bike.
If you find damage
- Inspect the bike at delivery, before signing, with photographs and the condition record in hand.
- Write any damage, missing part or moisture on the delivery receipt, then and there.
- If you notice something later, such as a crack hidden under the wrapping, report it promptly in writing with photographs, following the reporting steps in the issued cover and booking terms.
- Keep the condition record, delivery receipt and photographs together. Do not repair the damage before it has been documented.
Any settlement depends on the issued policy and its assessment. Nobody can honestly promise a payout in advance.
Choosing a Provider, Avoiding Common Mistakes and Saving Sensibly
Questions worth asking any provider
- Is the quote hub scope or doorstep scope, and to which exact points?
- Is the bike travelling on a shared vehicle or a direct one, and when does the transit window start?
- What is included in writing: packing, loading, carriage, unloading, local legs, applicable tax and cover?
- What does the transit cover document say about stages, declared value, exclusions and reporting?
- What are the payment and cancellation terms?
- Who prepares the condition record, and will you receive a copy?
- Can the provider back every claim it makes, such as a membership or approval?
For transparency, BikeShift Gurgaon does not claim IBA approval. Judge any provider, us included, on what is written in the quote and terms rather than on badges.
Mistakes that cause most problems
- Giving "Mumbai" as the destination when the address is in Thane, Navi Mumbai or Mira Road.
- Using an office address that cannot actually receive the bike.
- Booking pickup on the morning of your own flight.
- Not naming a receiver, or naming someone who will be unavailable.
- Leaving accessories and luggage on the bike without listing them.
- Signing the delivery receipt before inspecting the bike.
- Picking the lowest phone quote without checking what it leaves out.
Sensible ways to keep costs down
- Choose hub scope only if you genuinely live near both confirmed points.
- Stay flexible by a few days on dispatch so the bike can travel with a planned shared load.
- Remove bolt-on accessories that add packing time.
- Give accurate model and condition details so the quote does not need revising on pickup day.
- Have the receiver ready on the agreed day to avoid holding or redelivery.
- Skip a direct vehicle unless your timeline truly needs one.
Household move and bike booking: compare the two delivery plans
If your furniture is also going from Gurgaon to Mumbai, ask the household mover whether the bike is accepted on that booking and how it will be separated and secured. Check its own inventory entry, condition photographs, cover and receiving date.
Then compare a separate bike booking using the same Mumbai address and access conditions. Do not assume either option will arrive faster. Your furniture may be booked for a new flat while you are staying temporarily in a PG or hotel; tell the bike booking contact which address can actually receive and inspect it.
Agree who handles the bike in writing so neither company assumes the other has collected it. Keep the bike's receipt and keys record separate from the household carton list.
Frequently Asked Questions: Bike Transport Gurgaon to Mumbai
What are the bike transport charges from Gurgaon to Mumbai?
Planning ranges for one assessed bike are: scooter ₹3,800–4,400 hub scope or ₹4,200–5,000 doorstep scope; commuter motorcycle ₹4,000–4,600 or ₹4,500–5,400; sports or naked street bike ₹4,600–5,400 or ₹5,200–6,400; Royal Enfield, cruiser or heavier middleweight ₹5,400–6,400 or ₹6,200–7,600; accepted EV ₹4,200–4,900 or ₹5,000–6,000; large or premium tourer ₹8,000–10,000 or ₹9,500–14,000. These are not fixed all-inclusive tariffs. Your written quote states packing, loading, carriage, unloading, any local legs, applicable tax, your chosen cover and any assessed special work.
What is the difference between hub scope and doorstep scope?
With hub scope, you hand over the bike at a confirmed loading point in Gurugram and collect it from a confirmed receiving point, with the appointment and receipt agreed at both ends. Arranging those two local legs is not included unless the quote says so. With doorstep scope, collection and delivery happen at agreed lawful access points such as your society gate or building compound. It does not mean automatic entry into every basement, campus or private lane.
How long does bike transport from Gurgaon to Mumbai take?
Plan for around 4 to 6 working days after confirmed dispatch. Collection and any consolidation happen before dispatch, and the final delivery appointment is fixed after the bike reaches the region, so allow time for both. The 22 to 25 hours shown for a passenger car is not freight arrival time. A faster timeline is possible only if a direct vehicle is specifically arranged and quoted.
Is delivery to Thane or Navi Mumbai the same as delivery to Mumbai?
Not for planning purposes. The official District Thane website lists separate municipal corporations for Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Ulhasnagar and Mira-Bhayandar, and each area has its own roads and building access. Share the exact node, sector or side of the city, the building, gate and PIN code. The quote then confirms the scope and appointment for that address. There is no single fee for the whole region.
Can my bike be delivered to my office in BKC, Powai or Andheri?
Only if the office building agrees to receive a personal vehicle. Many office campuses do not let delivery vehicles in or will not sign for a personal bike. If the office is your only option, get written permission from facility management before dispatch and share the security contact. Otherwise, a home address with a named authorised receiver is the more reliable choice.
I will stay in a PG first and move to a flat later. What should I do?
Before dispatch, check whether the PG allows bike parking and deliveries, and name an alternate receiver in case you are unavailable. If the bike cannot be received there, ask whether a holding or later redelivery arrangement is possible and get its terms in writing. Do not send the bike to an address where nobody can receive it while your flat is still unconfirmed.
Which documents are needed to transport my bike?
Keep copies of the RC, the current insurance policy and the owner's photo ID, plus the PUC certificate where applicable. If someone other than the RC owner hands over or receives the bike, add a signed authorisation letter. Keep the originals with you, because you will need them for riding once the bike reaches Mumbai.
Do I need an NOC or Maharashtra registration after moving my bike?
Transport acceptance does not answer this. Re-registration after a long stay and state road tax are separate questions that depend on how long you stay, the vehicle and current state rules. If the bike is financed, your lender's permission also matters. Check your situation with the Maharashtra transport department or your local RTO, and with your lender if the RC shows hypothecation, rather than relying on a universal rule.
Can you transport a Royal Enfield or a large premium bike?
Yes, after assessment. Royal Enfield models, cruisers and heavier middleweights plan at ₹5,400–6,400 hub scope or ₹6,200–7,600 doorstep scope. Large or premium tourers plan at ₹8,000–10,000 or ₹9,500–14,000. The quote depends on weight, width with luggage, fitted accessories, declared value and condition. Any special packing or loading is agreed and priced in writing before booking.
Can an electric scooter or EV bike be transported?
An EV is accepted after checking the exact model against the carrier's acceptance rules and the manufacturer's transport requirements. Accepted EVs plan at ₹4,200–4,900 hub scope or ₹5,000–6,000 doorstep scope. There is no single rule on battery charge, isolation or removal; any battery handling follows the manufacturer's or authorised service requirements. Share the model and variant at enquiry, and note on the condition record whether the charger travels with the bike.
How much petrol should be left in the tank?
For road transport, keep the fuel low as the carrier advises at booking. Do not drain the tank yourself or pack fuel in bottles. Rail is different: official railway guidance for two-wheelers requires an empty tank, so check the requirement for your specific booking if you choose rail.
Is railway parcel cheaper than road transport?
It can cost less, but you do more of the work. Railway parcel may not travel on your train, while accompanied luggage is booked against your own journey ticket; the two are different services. Both need packing to railway requirements, an empty tank as per railway guidance, and visits to the stations at both ends. Exact station, train and model acceptance must be checked with the railway. A road carrier costs more but can handle collection and delivery at agreed points.
What happens if damage is found at delivery or later?
Inspect the bike before signing, compare it with the pickup condition record and write any damage, missing part or moisture on the delivery receipt with photographs. If you notice damage later, report it promptly in writing with photographs, following the reporting steps in the issued cover and booking terms. Any settlement depends on the issued policy, its stages, declared value and exclusions. No payout can be promised in advance.
What if the bike arrives in Mumbai during heavy rain?
Agree a sheltered, lawful spot at the receiving address where the wrapping can be removed and the bike inspected without standing in rain. Photograph the bike, note any moisture or damage on the receipt, and check the key, any EV charger and removed parts such as mirrors. At the Gurgaon end, the bike should be dry before packing, because a wet bike should not be sealed in wrap. No packing can promise weatherproof protection.
